Why Choose Organic Cotton?
Choosing organic cotton means not choosing the use of pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and Genetically Modified Organisms that are used in the growth of conventional cotton.
Statistics show that conventional cotton producers use as much as 25% of the world's insecticides and more than 10% of the world's pesticides on their crop. An estimated 20,000 deaths each year are down to pesticide poisoning in developing countries, according to the World Health Organisation.
These chemicals, which can end up in our water systems, food, farm animals and as a consequence our own bodies, are carcinogens which could lead to cancer.
Lessening the impact on our environment, organic cotton uses far less water too.
