The Mother of Metamorphosis

Maria Sibylla Merian was an intrepid artist and early female entomologist, one of the first observers of insect metamorphosis. Despite having no formal training, she revolutionised the scientific community’s understanding of the life-cycle of insects. We have used her original designs, preserved within the archives of the Natural History Museum to feature on our women’s collection.

Comfortable and Lightweight

Used the size guide to find a recommended fit. From that, I ordered the size 10 and found they fit perfectly. The fit is flattering, and the fabric is lightweight for the warmer weather.

Natural History Shorts

Lovel soft cotton and a good fit. I especially like the size guide. Maybe because it has me as a 10 when I thought I must be an elephant. The shorts are comfortable and I have used them when it was warm, not that it has been much + I use them over my running leggings. They work well with them too. I feel a bit less exposed as leggings are bit figure hugging. The shorts are unusual in that they a a good fit but aren't figure hugging. I think it would be good if they came in 2 lengths. I would then choose a slightly longer version, say by 5-10 cm.

Favourite shorts

Had a couple of pairs of the blue shorts for a couple of years now, and they are the most comfortable, great fitting shorts. Wish there were more colours! Highly recommend.
