After trying several different wetsuits from big brands, Finisterre's Nieuwland 4 is my new favorite in terms of comfort, durability, and price.
Surfing in Northern California several times a week, a warm wetsuit is essential. This wetsuit remains toasty, and the lumbar patch is an added bonus of warmth. Minimal flushing and a tight fit around wrists and ankles keep the cold out and the warmth in. Additionally, the neoprene's durability is great. After fin slices that have left other wetsuits worse for wear, the Nieuwland remains strong.
While I would really like to give this suit five stars for my experience thus far, there is room for improvement. Notably, the chest entry is quite difficult to exit and strains a concentrated area of stitching. This is more a result of wide shoulders than a fault of the wetsuit. Certain glued areas are also beginning to separate slightly. While these are components of regular wetsuit wear, given my location in North America, I have no Finisterre sponsored repair options.
Overall, at a price half that of competitors, general functional durability that is on par, and a comfort level that is just as good if not better, this is a great wetsuit!
