Fit

  • A good fit is essential for keeping warm. Our suits are made to a bespoke pattern and may vary from other suits you have owned. See the size guide above to get the perfect fit, and if you're still not sure which size to choose give us a call on 01872 554 481

  • Your wetsuit should be a tight fit when new, and will loosen off slightly after 10-15 wears

  • Studio model Paulo is wearing a medium and is 5’9” / 176cm tall, chest 38” / 97cm

Details

  • Updated with an easier entry system and improved fit around the chest and waist

  • 6.5mm chest and back panel, 4.5 mm arms and legs

  • Designed for sea temperatures in the region of 4-10°C

  • Higher internal pile in over 80% of the suit for greater heat retention

  • Elongated back panel, improving heat retention

  • Extra 6mm neoprene lumbar patch over lower back, providing key warmth

  • High proportion of flexible neoprene across shoulders and through upper body to aid easy paddling

  • Double needle blind stitched throughout suit: a safer stitch that will better weather the wear and tear of the suit (no need for a seam sealant that often ends up cracking)

  • 50% wider seam tape, reducing water penetration; also adhering better to the suit, improving the durability

  • Finisterre custom neck pattern – reduced flushing as well as helping entry / exit

  • Tension wrist bands, improving wrist seal

  • Bespoke calf loops – a design feature to help suit entry

Working with a master in his field, we have looked at areas where we feel suit design needs improving and after three years of refinement plus direct feedback from over 300 surfers on our tester programme, this is the result.

The 5mm wetsuit is designed for sea temperatures in the region of 4-10°C, suitable for winters in the north of England, Scotland, Ireland and Scandinavia.

Excellent warm suit,

My third of these suits. The first ones were of less flexible rubber, but lasted very well. They have always been tight across the shoulders to get on and off, but offer fantastic warmth and great shoulder flexibility. Made for a surfer's shape so an XL does not come with a large amount of excess material around the waist, as is the case for most other XL suits. The most recent suit did not last for quite so long as previous suits. That could be down to greater use. Given the lifespan of just over a year my original reason for choosing Finisterre, being longer lasting and less environmental impact falls away to some extent so I will reconsider other suits this time, which I have not done at the end of the last 2 suits.

Hooded 6mm winter suit

I have used this suit for approx 50 sessions in autumn and winter. kitesurfing, stand up surfing and foiling.

Easy to put on for a 6mm, not stiff at all.

As of now there is no obvious signs of wear, still feels like a new suit. High quality, nice zip design can be closed one handed. Very comfortable, very nice fit no flushing through the neck/chest entry even when wiping out with the hood down. My only gripe on cold days foiling it's not super warm on the arms (4.5mm) I bought this to replace my patagonia R5 who's seams cracked in a few weeks. Overall very happy with it.

Excellent

Moved to Aberdeen and needed something to deal with slightly chillier winds and waters. Fits beautifully and barely feel the water, gorgeous suit, tricky to get into at first but improving with every session.
