The coat smelt a bit chemically when I first wore it, but this has now gone. It is quite warm (not as breathable as some other jackets) when climbing the fells, but very good for sitting still bird-watching. I have a small head (pin head) and short neck, so the hood is too big for me without a cap underneath; a bit of extra volumizing would be helpful. It packs up very well and fits in my Finisterre waist pack with plenty of room for bits and pieces. It coped very well with a windy downpour on Hadrian's wall.
