3mm Yulex® chest zip surf wetsuit in ink blue

I’ve worn Finisterre suits for several years and have been really happy with early models. Unfortunately the Yulex model has some way to go. There’s very little stretch in the rubber, which combined with the slightly sticky and rough inner lining meant for the first time in over 30 years of wearing wetsuits saw me unable to get my hands through the cuffs of the suit. In fact the rubbers lack of stretch and weight reminded me of suits of yesteryear. It was very tough to put on, and while the fit is expected to be snug, the suit was unforgiving and restrictive around the shoulders and paddle zones. The yulex did not inspire confidence that it would wear particularly well, and may tear around problem areas (such as the cuffs for me). The construction of the suit seamed to be of top quality as usual, high quality stitching, super wide inner stretch tape, tough nylon lining on the outside of the suit. The cut pattern also appeared to be the same as older suits but due to the more restrictive yulex material feels like it may need to be updated to accommodate a less flexible and heavy suit. Sadly I had to return the suit before it had any water time, so unsure how it would perform over a period of time. I’d love to be able to give this product a 5 star review but for me it fell short at the first hurdle and feel a bit more development is needed to take a yulex suit to the next level.
