For light rain and short exposure, 5,000 to 10,000mm is adequate. For extended use in moderate rain, look for 10,000 to 15,000mm waterproofing. Heavy rain and extreme conditions require 15,000 to 20,000mm waterproofing. Equally important is breathability -measured in grams (g), which prevents condensation building up inside during the jacket active use.
