What is a windbreaker jacket?

A windbreaker jacket, also known as a windcheater jacket, is a lightweight, wind-resistant layer designed to block wind chill and light showers without the bulk of a heavy coat. The Forecast Windbreaker Jacket packs down small, so it's easy to carry when the forecast turns.

What's the difference between a windbreaker and a windcheater?

They're two names for the same thing. 'Windcheater' is the traditional British term and 'windbreaker' is more widely used today, both describing a lightweight windcheater jacket made to break the wind. You'll see us use both across our Forecast range.

Are Finisterre windbreakers waterproof?

The Forecast Windcheater Jacket is fully windproof (1 CFM rating) with a PFAS-free water-repellent finish for light weather protection, rather than being fully waterproof. For heavy or prolonged rain, explore our waterproof jackets, built with taped seams for full weather protection.

Are your windbreakers lightweight and breathable?

Yes. With a 45,000GM2 breathability rating and a lightweight build (from around 149g), the Forecast Windbreaker Jacket cuts the wind without overheating, ideal for running, walking and everyday layering. It also packs away into its own rear zip pocket.
