Winter is our homeland. It’s when the elements are at their most fierce and when we feel most alive. Confident in ourselves and our abilities, and excited for the opportunities that winter brings, we’re in our elements.

Exploring by foot we embarked on a surf mission through the forelands of North Cornwall. Exposed to the temperament of winter’s extremes, the storms, wind and rains here are as hard and exacting as the slate and blue elvan over which we surf.
On empty trails racing bands of sunlight strafe the russets of dormant gorse and heather. While at sea they light the backs of corduroy sets and birth rainbows, as lurid as a child’s watercolour set.
“We walk the path
of the season...”
Jon Herbert, Creative Lead
Biblical rains; hiding in caves, drenched to the bone; full arc rainbows on the horizon; dawnies; chasing waves for days with barrel after barrel surf sessions; rugged coastal hikes; waterfalls; plunge pools; and high tide cold water swims in harbours protected from the storm...
Immersing ourselves in the elemental forces of winter.
Try swimming in February or leaning into a storm as you hike to the top of the hill. Try dragging on a freezing wetsuit in the rain and meeting winter head on. It’ll make your heart beat out of your chest, make home feel all the warmer and that pint taste all the sweeter. That's what winter means to me."

To pinpoint the exact routes we took, waves we surfed, and trails hiked would be to break the magic and mystery of the adventure, but the essence of the experience is one that we can all share.
The joy of it is universal. From the immediacy of a flow state – immune to the cold, earned through focus and preparation – to the hoots and hollers for waves ridden and watched, torn ragged by the wind. The crisp singular sound of gravel under foot on trails emptied of crowds of softer seasons.
"The energy that winter brings is such an exciting and welcomed change from the gentle, playful summer. The crisp fresh mornings, bigger swells and search for solitude returns."

"In the thick of winter, zipped into a thick wetsuit, my suit of armour, I feel completely alive. It’s me against the elements, and I love the battle. Mentally and physically, I’m ready from months of training. Out to slay the dragon. Winter is coming… and I can’t bloody wait."

As the post-surf beach fire warms us, so too does the lasting heat of experiences shared, and stories that will keep us going well into spring.
We are in our elements.
