Q: Which Finisterre women’s wetsuit is best for swimming in cold water?

Our Nieuwland and Kaia 2mm Yulex® wetsuits are purpose-built for swimming in cold water, with a range of options available, from Yulex® versions of traditional one-piece swimsuits, to short and long sleeve shorties, with varying degrees of freedom for limbs to move and exposure to the water.

Q: Why should I buy a Finisterre wetsuit?

We've been designing wetsuits since 2003, and as a brand born from the needs of hardy British surfers we’ve spent plenty of time test riding our suits in the cold waters of Cornwall. Our wetsuits are also made from sustainable natural rubber, and built for comfort and performance.

Can I use a surf wetsuit for open water swimming?

At a stretch (no pun intended) surf wetsuits could be used for open water swimming but they are very different beasts in their design, flexibility, zonal warmth and buoyancy. A surf wetsuit is designed with warmth and the flexibility to sit and paddle in. While a swim wetsuit is designed to glide through the water, with added buoyancy, and warmer panels around the torso. In conclusion, a surf wetsuit can be worn for surfing and casual swimming. Whereas a swim wetsuit would not be suitable for surfing but ideal for proficient open water swimming.
