Andy Jones
Sooke, BC Canada
Cutting a path as unusual as the boards he rides, Andy Jones is a Canadian surfer with a passion for fickle waves, alternative shapes, and protecting the waters of his home around Vancouver Island.
Born in Ontario, in the Canadian interior, Andy’s first connection with the water began at Lake Huron. But his family soon moved to British Columbia, and then later to the Sunshine Coast of Australia where Andy became fully immersed in surf culture, honing his ocean-awareness and skills. Today he brings style in small waves but really gets going when it gets big.
Now back cruising the cold, often un-ridden waves around Vancouver Island, Andy balances his surfing lifestyle with environmental stewardship. He works for a marine oil spill response organization, pilots a whale watching boat, guides surf boat trips and is coming to the end of a diploma in ecological restoration – all whilst surfing some of the best (and coldest) waves in the Pacific Northwest.
