Round Britain Climate Challenge Takes Flight

The Round Britain Climate Challenge is a project created by Conservation Without Borders with the aim of highlighting the increasing pace and severity of the climate crisis. When we were approached by their team, we jumped at the chance to provide them with kit to keep them protected against the elements on their journey.

In a world first, and attempting two Guinness World Records, Sacha Dench (aka the Human Swan) is attempting to circumnavigate the coastline of Britain in a wind and electric powered paramotor, highlighting how climate change is changing our country, and what we can do about it. Watch her take off below...

During this episode, Sacha was just south of Girvan having had a delightful stay with a lovely farmer very supportive of the project and is keen to spread the word amongst the farming community. Other plans for this week involved stopping in with Dunfries and Galloway Council who have made ambitious target to be carbon neutral by 2025. Sacha will also be heading through Wild Ennerdale on her way to seed bombing with the Scouts before stopping in with EDF Heysham to meet staff and the community there and moving on to Eden in Morecambe Bay.

“Seeing with my own the eyes the effect climate change has had on my mum and thousands of other people around the world, makes this an issue I can't ignore.

Have you counted yourself in yet and taken your step? The more people get involved, the louder our collective voice. For more episodes from Sacha's journey, and to follow her progress, check out the RBBC website, here.
