Our Packaging
We consider the impact of every element of a product, including its packaging. To ensure our products make it from suppliers to warehouses, to stores and on to our customers in the best condition, we examine every stage of the process: Are the materials renewable and lower impact? Can they be recycled to retain their value? What happens if they end up in the environment? And ultimately, is it needed? This thinking continues to shape how we design and use packaging across our products.

Algae Ink™
Sometimes the most considered solutions come from nature. In 2025, we introduced hang tags printed using Living Ink’s Algae Ink™, made from microalgae that would otherwise go to waste, sourced from farms in Southern California.
In our first season, over 25 kg of algae was repurposed into pigment for our hang tags. This tiny organism can be transformed into a black pigment, giving new purpose to an organic material that would otherwise be discarded - printed on FSC®-certified recycled paper, attached using organic cotton ties.

Vela™ Garment Bags
In 2025, we introduced Vela™ garment bags as an alternative to traditional polybag packaging, crafted from FSC™-certified paper. Designed with end of life in mind, they protect products from dirt, dust, and moisture during transit, can be easily recycled at home, and help retain material value.
As part of this work, we also reviewed our use of garment bags, leading to a 23% reduction in usage by limiting their application to where they are necessary to maintain product quality.
In 2026 we are piloting the Vela Revive™ bag, made using a 50% recycled blend, reducing reliance on virgin materials.
Vela™ products are manufactured by Seaman Paper, a member of 1% for the Planet. Through this partnership, they commit 1% of all Vela™ sales to their "Sea the Difference" partners, supporting ocean research and conservation projects.
