Swim Dem was founded in 2013 with the aim of using swimming as a tool to empower people. Peigh and Nathaniel aim to promote the social aspect of the sport, making it accessible, fun and inclusive. Proudly branding the Swim Dem Crew as a family, the pair run weekly sessions that focus on training, honing skills and togetherness.

They’ve joined us in the water before, on the Isle of Skye in collaboration with Talisker Whisky, but it was a pleasure to welcome them to our home on the cliffs. Drying off and heading up the cliffs, we sat down in the studio to chat all things Swim Dem Crew. We spoke about their formative years in 2013, how an inner-city swim club can change lives, and their steadfast belief in the power of community.
Peigh and Nathaniel are on a mission to get more people into swimming, creating a social and safe space for everyone to enjoy the water. From South Korea to the United States, the ripples of Swim Dem Crew are spreading far and wide, with the mental and physical benefits being felt across the world. We discussed the change they are part of and the future of swimming.
“Swimming is something that adds to your life. It doesn't need to be this thing that is only for the super-fast and the super-elite.”
“Swimming has taught me so much about myself... about letting go of your ego, about being vulnerable, about self-confidence...”
