    nice shirt with design problems

On receiving the indigo version of the Eddystone shirt I was really impressed with the overall cut of the shirt and the soft but sturdy quality of the material. So far so good.

I was puzzled by the curious 'side entry pocket' (supposedly 'secure' according to the desciption), and found that it was far from practical. Whether a small notebook, a small mobile phone or similar item, it would simply not go 'around the corner' because the compartment is narrow and the entry is on the side rather than at the top. That would leave only small items to store, but the wide side entry would make this less than secure.

To make it at least a little more practical I took out the the seam between the pocket and the adjacent pen/pencil slot (yellow arrow in image), so that an item can go around the corner (with the pen/pencil slot still functional as well).

On first wearing the shirt I tried to roll up the sleeves (up to elbow), and discovered that this was near impossible. The reason for this is that the sleeve plackets are unusually short (red line in image). In the end it 'sort of' works by rolling up the sleeves before putting on the shirt but the result is still close to uncomfortably tight even with skinny arms.

This is supposed to be a "Utility inspired work shirt", and it is difficult to believe that it was designed to be worn with sleeves down only. Even my dress shirts have sleeves that can be rolled-up easily.

Overall verdict: nice shirt but with an impractical, gimmicky…
