It's better when it's wetter. Using the same high performance waterproof fabric as our Rainbird jackets, the unisex NHM Poncho is designed to handle the worst the weather can throw your way, but that's not all. As well as a large front pouch pocket to keep your valuables safe, the poncho has 6 handy loops which allow it to be pinned down as a tarp - perfect for setting up temporary shelter when out adventuring or battening down the hatches while sat watching the waves from the cliffs.

Part of the NHM + Finisterre collection celebrating the resilience of nature and a shared passion to protect the natural world, the poncho features beautiful cyanotype images of British Algae by pioneering photographer and botanist Anna Atkins.

Our exclusive print design from the Natural History Museum features a Cyanotype, also known as “blue print” - one of the first ways of making a photographic image. English botanist and photographer, Anna Atkins (1799-1871) captured beautiful cyanotype prints of British algae and is credited as the first person ever to illustrate a book using photographic images.

Good - would prefer sleeves slightly longer

I'd still view the 3 star review as pretty good. My main negative is that in hindsight looking for a poncho with slightly longer sleeves would have been preferable, but this ticks the multiple user and recycled boxes, hence the purchase. For me, at a suitably average 5'9 / 176 cm this leaves about 10 to 15 cm of sleeve exposed - but as it is intended to be used by a number of us at times so will fit others (less tall) better. The 10 year old review was that it looks like something granny would wear - and not in the most complementary way to granny or the item - in the flesh the style may, may, be interpreted as a little 1970's floral but given it is only to be worn in grim conditions its not a big negative regardless

Multi-use

As an improvised tarp/basha this has loops for bungees or paracord (and a pocket to keep them in) but is a bit small. As a poncho it has snap fastenings at the side (good ventilation) and would cover a small daysack on your back containing proper emergency equipment. Some good ideas here, but not the garment of choice.

Unisex Adventure Poncho

A great design for a functional rain poncho. The print is so original in blue. The front pouch very handy . The only improvement I would make is to reinforce the corners with strong taping in case the corners rip when stretched or under pressure from rain force. The matching hat is brilliant. Just wish the demo video was still up on the website.

Amazing pattern, love the poncho

This is a really lovely fabric for a poncho, doesn't feel like you're wearing a 'plastic bag'.

It would have been great if it was slightly wider, so that the arm coverage extends further towards the wrists, rather than feeling like a 3/4 sleeve... especially since its purpose is to stop the rain. A slight neck opening at the collar with button/velcro/ one button/ quick fastening would allow easier 'drop' of the poncho when putting it on.

Overall design and the extra tabs are useful, I've used them to attach to my hands/handlebars when I've had to ride my bike during downpours.
